About

What is
Mensonges?

Mensonges is an independent intellectual publication. We publish long-form essays on culture, philosophy, technology, politics, and aesthetics — the kind of writing that resists easy summary and rewards patience.

We are not affiliated with any institution, platform, or advertising network. We have no investors, no engagement metrics, no algorithmic distribution strategy. We exist because we believe certain conversations are worth having slowly.

The name — French for "lies" — reflects our central preoccupation: the gap between how things are represented and how they are. All criticism, at its most useful, is an archaeology of that gap.

We are based nowhere in particular and everywhere in general. Our writers work across continents and disciplines. What they share is a commitment to thinking carefully before speaking, and to saying things that cannot be unsaid.
